23 Things I’d Like To Do in 2023

23 Things I’d Like To Do in 2023

As 2023 approaches, I thought I would put together a list of 23 things I’d like to do in 2023. In 2022 I made a similar list and I manage to achieve 10 of my goals for 2022. Here’s hoping I can achieve more than that with this list.

23 Things I’d Like to Do in 2023

Write my 8th Book

I may have only one book published, but I’ve actually written seven so far. I would like to write Book 8 in 2023. Whether that’s a historical fiction or a contemporary women’s fiction novel remains to be seen.

Get a new book deal

Slightly connected to the above and definitely with an element of manifesting, I would like to get a new book deal in 2023. I was first published in 2021, with a book deal in 2020. In 2022, things were a little too unsteady for me to focus any which way on writing but in 2023 I would like to get back into writing and publishing, as an author.

23 Things I'd Like to Do in 2023

Go to my first stadium concert

This is sort of already in the works since my family and I have tickets to see Coldplay in the Summer. But this will be my first ever Stadium concert, and it’s one of only two I’ll ever go to Queen and Coldplay. I’m not a live music fan, usually, but these two bands are my exceptions.

Have a Spa Weekend

I was meant to do this in November 2022, but due to money and wanting to prioritise saving over spending, I cancelled it. I’ve since re-booked for Spring 2023 and I’m looking forward to it. I’m off to Warwickshire, near Shakespeare’s birthplace, and I’m going to throw in a bit of a Shakespeare History Tour alongside my weekend of relaxation.

Have a Eurovision Party

Whilst I’ve given up my hopes of seeing Eurovision live in Liverpool – the expense, the stress and the travel are just too much – I would love to have a Eurovision Party with friends and family. It’s so much fun! We go all-out, with themed food buffets, sweepstakes and flags. Some say it’s a bit much, we say that ‘much’ is precisely what we’re after.

Go abroad

At some point next year, I would like to go abroad. Next up on my American wishlist is Boston. Whether I’ll have the money to visit we’ll have to wait and see. But my intention is to go for 4-5 day holiday in the historic city. We’ll have to wait and see if this is possible.

Visit The Cauldron

In 2023 I would like to visit The Cauldron, a cocktail bar in London. It’s got a twist as you make your own cocktails a bit like a potions class. There is dry ice steam and everything.

See Moulin Rouge

I’ve bought myself and my best friend tickets to see Moulin Rouge on the West End – in the Can Can seats, right on the stage! – in January 2023 and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a great night.

Go back to the Harry Potter Studios

I haven’t been back to the Harry Potter Studios in Leavesden for about 3-4 years now, and that shocks me. It’s my happy place and I miss it. I’ve also not seen a lot of the updates from Gringotts Bank to the Burrow and more! One for early 2023 I think.

Grow my TikTok in 2023

I’ve really got into TikTok 2022, posting videos about books, lifestyle, and silly clips. It’s addictive to watch, but I also really enjoy making videos and sharing them.

Go to Floatworks

I’ve previously been to Floatworks and I really enjoyed it. Floatworks offers Floatation Therapy where you float, as the name suggests, in a pod with salt water. It’s a great way to relax but also to problem-solve and meditate.

Write in a diary

Partly inspired by reading Alan Rickman’s Diaries, in 2023 I would quite like to get back into journaling and write a line or page a day about that day’s events. From doing absolutely nothing to spending a day with friends or trying something new. I’d like to capture some moments.

Notes in 2023

See a show at the Royal Shakespeare Company

I’m going to Stratford Upon Avon in 2023 and I’d like to see a show at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford that weekend. I previously saw The Merchant of Venice in Stratford and it was fantastic, so I have high hopes for another production.

Visit the London Metropolitan Archive

I’ve been meaning to go back to this archive to finish some research I started back in 2016, but COVID and timing have gotten in the way. Maybe this year will be the year I’ll get back to it.

Travel to three more cities in the UK, excluding London

I’ve been meaning to travel around the UK for ages but never managed to get away. In 2023, I’d like to visit at least three more UK cities, excluding London. I’m planning to go to Manchester in Summer, so that’s one. But I’d also like to get to York, Lincoln, Durham, Bath and other cities in the UK if I can.

Travel in 2023

Read 100 Books

As per my usual Bookish Resolution, I’d like to read 100 books in 2023. I’ve been a bit short in 2022, but here’s hoping I can increase my reading in 2023.

Save £5000 in 2023

In 2023, I would like to save at least £5000 – more if I can.

Visit Kew Gardens

I’ve been trying to visit Kew Gardens for over two years, and I need to just do it. So 2023 will be the year.

Read x3 new books by favourite authors

I have quite a few favourite authors – authors I read more than others anyway – and in 2023 I’d like to read at least three new novels from some of them. From Agatha Christie, Daphne Du Maurier, Charles Dickens or Jane Austen.

Edit My Mr Keats

In 2023, a group of friends and I are going to start a writing club to edit and write new novels. For me, this is the perfect opportunity to re-open My Mr Keats after a long hiatus to rewrite it. There are quite a few big edits I need help with, so I’m looking forward to writing with friends.

Visit x3 Museums or Galleries

Last year, I aimed to visit x3 National Trust properties but I’ve discovered this is quite hard to do if you don’t drive. Instead, I’ve decided to visit at least x3 museums or galleries that I’ve never visited before.

Complete x6 30 Day Challenges

In 2023 I’d like to complete more of my regular 30 day challenges. From No-Spend Challenges to reading and film challenges.

Have an enjoyable year

And finally, for 23 things to do in 2023, I’d like to have an enjoyable year. Bad things always happen, that’s life, but I’d like to make the most of 2023 by enjoying all the everyday and fun things.

What is on your list of 23 things to do in 2023? Let me know in the comments below.
